Getting parts together for a caliper replacement and brake upgrade. Right now the brakes on my Miata suck. Fresh rotors+good pads+ATE superblue+stainless lines and fully working calipers should be a HUGE upgrade.

What rotors are you going to use? New stock ones or some upgrades?

Just the plain Napa rotors. It's what all the spec Miata/track guys run. I would love drilled and slotted rotors, but they cost at least twice as much as the regular ones and can crack.

Let us know how they compare. My brakes are almost due for maintenance and I was also thinking about doing a little upgrading during that process. What did you pay for all those parts?

Pads were $125ish

Rotors will be $80 something

Hard lines from 949 racing are $100

ATE Superblue is like $15

The replacement caliper will be $80 after core return at Rosenthal Mazda.

A friend of mine runs this setup and loves it.

I'm playing the research game right now and decided to drop by this thread again.

A lot of guys on forums are saying Napa rotors are the way to go, so like you, I'll probably do that. I didn't understand their website too well so could you link me?

Then I'd do pads. This is where the reading sets in. Whatever is a good combo of performance, streetability, and price.

After I sort out this I'll decide if I want to do lines and fluid (would fluid be any good without the lines?).

I really like the new pads. They are silent and have lots of feel. I would like a tad more bite, but that's more preference than necessity. ATE superblue is no longer available(the DOT says no colorant is allowed), but you can get the gold version that has no dye from Flyin Miata and others. They also have a master cylinder brace for about $45 that I'm wanting to get. It keeps the firewall from flexing under brake pressure, which seems to work from what I've read on the forums.
